SOLARNET is pleased to announce a call for proposals of its Access Programme for the solar telescope GREGOR
Period: 2023B Proposal Submission Deadline: 15 May 2023, 10:00 UT
Send proposals to: east-tac@astro.su.se
Proposals are hereby invited under the SOLARNET Trans-National Access Programme for observing time at the solar telescope GREGOR (Tenerife). This call also includes observing time in the International Time Program (ITP).
This call is made possible because of an extension of the SOLARNET project period. It is the last call of this Access Programme.
Proposals will be handled by the EAST TAC, a common European time allocation committee installed by the European Association for Solar Telescopes. Typically, successful proposals in PI visitor mode will be awarded with around 10 observing days but longer periods are also possible. SOLARNET campaigns also get travel grants for two visiting researchers going to the telescope.
The observing period will be July 11 to September 30.
New users of the facilities are encouraged to apply. Certain criteria of eligibility related to the nationalities of the applicants exist: For SOLARNET time, the PI and at least half the Co-I’s must have affiliations other than Germany or Spain. Otherwise, this call is open to the world, making use of an option in the rules for Access programmes that allow a quota for non-EU and non-associated countries.
For ITP time, applications must include researchers with affiliations in at least two of the following countries: Spain, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Finland and Belgium. There will be 9 days available.
Data acquired in the SOLARNET Access Programme will become public one year after being delivered to the PI.
Information on the telescopes and their instrumentation can be found at the telescope web pages:
GREGOR Instruments Leibniz-Institut fuer Sonnenphysik (KIS): Scientific instruments (leibniz-kis.de). For SOLARNET observers, GRIS will be available in slit mode only.
